15 People Share the Greatest Single TV Episode They’ve Ever Seen

Choosing the greatest television series of all time is difficult enough, but choosing one episode might be even harder. A truly great episode has to do something special within an hour, or sometimes much less: deliver a payoff years in the making, completely change how we understand a character, make us laugh until it hurts, or leave us staring silently at the credits. When Reddit users were asked to name the single greatest TV episode they’d ever seen, certain titles appeared again and again, but their choices covered everything from sitcom disasters to devastating finales and eight-minute cartoons. There may never be a definitive answer, but these 15 episodes made particularly convincing cases for television at its absolute best.

“What kind of edgerunner are you?”

That’s a question asked…nay, screamed midway through a brand new first look at the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners season 2 (styled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2), the next standalone installment set in Netflix’s anime adaptation of the Cyberpunk 2077 universe. It’s a good question too, as fans of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners (which includes notable names such as Cyberpunk tabletop RPG creator Mike Pondsmith and acclaimed video game industry visionary Hideo Kojima) have also wondered what kind of edgerunner they’re going to get to see next.

});

The first season of the Netflix series provided an open-and-shut case, which means the 10-episode second season must introduce new characters and a new plot all set within the same familiar techno-dystopian universe. Thanks to the aforementioned Cyberpunk: Edgerunner 2 teaser from Netflix, we now have a better idea of how things will go down. Give it a look below.

So how will Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 look and sound? The answer to that question is: very, very loud. This is a bracing, bombastic 80-second clip that serves as more of a hype reel than a proper introduction to the show’s new faces. Fortunately, the hype reel is quite hype indeed. Set to an urgent, synth-fueled score from DOUDOU, viewers are entreated to fast-pasted glimpse of fresh violence and chaos in Night City and enigmatic text like “In Night City The Lines Between Redemption and Revenge Will Blur” and “Night City Will Burn Again.” It all culminates with a little boy innocently asking a man “You’re a weapon? A weapon made out of people?” Now that, my friends, is cyberpunk.

While the clip is light on plot and character details, Netflix has already provided a preview of precisely who and what fans can expect to see via its socials (and in a special issue of Den of Geek magazine as well). Joining the fray in Night City this time around are Weak Kingsley (Clancy Brown), a veteran edgerunner living in the shadow of his former glory; Talia Yang (Kimoy Lee), an augmented and battle-hardened member of Maelstrom; D (Nazeeh Tarsha), a nomad netrunner in search of revenge; and Roman Carax (Valeria Rodriguez), a young cinephile and filmmaker looking to document the real Night City.

Along with the exciting new trailer, Netflix also revealed that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 will premiere all 10 episodes on Tuesday, October 20.

In addition to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 news, Netflix also provided a bevy of other announcements and updates from Anime NYC regarding its upcoming anime-inspired animation slate. Key bits are as follows…

Bass x Machina, the “steampunk spaghetti Western” from Brian Tyree Henry, received several new photos and a fresh trailer.

"Animated person with blue eyes and brown hair in a blue robe, standing outdoors on a dock at sunset, looking intensely forward; another figure partially visible on the right."

The second season of Blue Eye Samurai was confirmed for a January 2027 launch window with a slick new teaser.

"LEGO character in dynamic running pose, wearing a helmet and armband, stirring up dust in a bright outdoor jungle setting with a large stone monument and trees in the background."

LEGO ONE PIECE unveiled a new trailer with Straw Hat Pirate Usopp taking over narration duties.

SAKAMOTO DAYS introduced a bevy of new characters for its second season.

The biggest news, however, was saved for Fool Night. A brand new anime based on Kasumi Yasuda’s popular manga, the story imagines a world in which a lack of sunlight has led to “transfloration,” a process in which some humans choose to transform into plants rather than endure a world with diminishing oxygen supplies. In addition to a first trailer, Netflix unveiled a two-minute featurette that dives deeper into the desolate, yet colorful world.

From cyberware-enhanced freedom fighters to plant-shaped people, Netflix has a little bit of anime everything coming up.
