Five Nights at Freddy’s remained atop the box office this weekend but fell an astonishing 76% in its second frame. “Five Nights at Freddy’s collapsed at the box office but still managed to emerge on top. Universal and Blumhouse’s fall sleeper hit has collected $19.4 million in its sophomore outing, resulting in a massive 76% […]

It might be awhile before we get to see Stranger Things season 5. Production on the fifth and final season of the Netflix juggernaut has been delayed, first by the Writers Guild of America’s (WGA) strike for an equitable contract from Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) and then again by the Screen Actors Guild’s strike action against AMPTP (seems as though there is one common denominator in these two work stoppages…).

Though the WGA strike has been resolved and SGA seems well on its way to be, there will still be a lot of filming to get through before Stranger Things season 5 can get a Netflix release date. For all we know, the youth of Hawkins, Indiana might be well into their 20s by the time we get to see the ’80s horror/sci-fi saga come to an end.

Thankfully, Stranger Things fans have something else to look forward to in the form of Stranger Things: The First Shadow. When first announced, the notion of a Stranger Things play seemed like a particularly desperate gambit from Netflix to squeeze as much content out of its juicy IP as possible. A live theater production for Stranger Things? Really? I mean, sure it worked for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, but there’s little in the Stranger Things canon to suggest that it would make sense on the stage.

But now, as part of its Nov. 6 “Stranger Things Day” observation, Netflix has released a lengthy first look at Stranger Things: The First Shadow and you know what? It looks pretty great! What’s more is that the plot details revealed from the c ]]> https://jk.chiramelventures.com/2023/11/08/link-tank-five-nights-at-freddys-box-office-plummets-in-second-weekend/feed/ 0 Attack on Titan Finale End Credits Scenes Explained: What’s Next for Paradis? https://jk.chiramelventures.com/2023/11/08/attack-on-titan-finale-end-credits-scenes-explained-whats-next-for-paradis/ https://jk.chiramelventures.com/2023/11/08/attack-on-titan-finale-end-credits-scenes-explained-whats-next-for-paradis/#respond Wed, 08 Nov 2023 08:20:04 +0000 https://jk.chiramelventures.com/2023/11/08/attack-on-titan-finale-end-credits-scenes-explained-whats-next-for-paradis/ Read more]]>

Those big teases at the BBC have spent months drip-feeding us tiny morsels of juicy Doctor Who news, from confirming series 14 guest stars one by one to (finally!) giving us the 60th anniversary special air dates (and even deleting a reference to a “spring 2024” series 14 release date), so it was quite a shock to see that Disney seems to have casually leaked the Doctor Who Christmas special episode title and air date in a random social media post today.

All we really knew so far was it was to be Ncuti Gatwa’s first full episode as the Fifteenth Doctor, would feature the debut of his new companion Ruby Sunday (Coronation Street’s Millie Gibson) and that it was airing “over the festive period in 2023”.

So what crucial details did Disney let slip?

Doctor Who Will Air on Christmas Day For The First Time in Six Years!

The Disney social media post was packed with release dates for their Christmas streaming, and under its “New Snow-rrivals” section it confirms the Doctor Who Christmas episode will arrive on the platform on 25th December, aka Christmas Day!

The last time we had a Christmas Day transmission slot was Steven Moffat’s 2017 episode “Twice Upon a Time”, which was Peter Capaldi’s last episode as the Twelfth Doctor, and featured Jodie Whittaker’s first appearance as the Thirteenth Doctor.

So it certainly feels fitting that the return of the Christmas Day special will also be the first prope

Marvel Studios’ long awaited sequel to Captain Marvel, appropriately titled simply The Marvels, will finally be in theaters on Thursday night. Nearly four years after the original Brie Larson-starring superhero movie grossed over $1.1 billion at the box office, the follow-up should be an event. And yet industry prognosticators and analysts have shown the movie to be tracking surprisingly soft going into its first weekend, with early estimates ranging between $70 million and $80 million for its opening weekend—the lower end of which is less than half of Captain Marvel’s $153.4 million debut in 2019. Actual ticket pre-sales, however, suggest it could be even lower with the film reportedly tracking behind even Black Adam’s tepid $67 million debut.

As of press time, The Marvels looks like it might be the latest film in a spate of 2023 genre flicks that suggest superhero fatigue is real—which also includes now infamous flops like DC’s The Flash, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and Blue Beetle, as well as Marvel’s own striking underperformance in February with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. For Disney, this is surely to be disappointing news, but what’s particularly curious about this moment in fan culture is how some folks seem to be taking the box office loss personally.

One viral tweet from a social media user who posts about the box office warned their followers on X, the website formerly known as Twitter, that the numbers “might not be what one hoped for.” As a consequence, the social media analyst suggested, “If you th ]]> https://jk.chiramelventures.com/2023/11/08/marvel-movies-doing-badly-at-the-box-office-shouldnt-be-traumatic/feed/ 0 Xbox Series X vs. PlayStation 5: Reviewing Each Console Three Years Later https://jk.chiramelventures.com/2023/11/08/xbox-series-x-vs-playstation-5-reviewing-each-console-three-years-later/ https://jk.chiramelventures.com/2023/11/08/xbox-series-x-vs-playstation-5-reviewing-each-console-three-years-later/#respond Wed, 08 Nov 2023 08:19:56 +0000 https://jk.chiramelventures.com/2023/11/08/xbox-series-x-vs-playstation-5-reviewing-each-console-three-years-later/ Read more]]>

The post Xbox Series X vs. PlayStation 5: Reviewing Each Console Three Years Later appeared first on Den of Geek.

As hard as it is to believe, this month marks the third anniversary of both the PlayStation 5 (November 19) and Xbox Series X (November 10). Given that each console launched in the midst of a global pandemic, it has been fair to say that their runs thus far have been…unusual, to say the least. Hardware shortages, prolonged game delays, and unprecedented levels of previous-generation support have often made it necessary to stop and remind yourself that we are indeed in the Xbox Series X/PS5 era of gaming.

Now that each console is easier to find, though (and new games are coming at a fast and furious pace), now seems like a great time to take another look at where each console stands. For additional context, I’ll also be including snippets from, and links to, our original 2020 reviews of each console to show how much has (and hasn’t) changed regarding our thoughts about each piece of hardware.

However, please note that this article is limited to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Though I actually love the Xbox Series S, it isn’t necessarily designed to be measured as an equal to either of those consoles. As for the Nintendo Switch, we’ll have plenty of thoughts about that console in the near future and as part of our end-of-the-year review series.

PlayStation 5

What We Said – Sony seems determined to carry on its “games first” philosophy from the PS4 while exploring the room a bit more in terms of a console’s multimedia potential and advanced features. Because of that, you’ll probably end up wanting a PS5 at some point, but don’t feel too bad if that’s not until 2021 (at the earliest) as we’re still months away from next-gen consoles truly becoming the industry standard.
